Dr. Holub is a board-certified psychiatrist with specialized training in biological psychiatry and neuromodulation — bringing psychiatrist-level expertise to TMS care that many other clinics cannot offer. Dr. Holub was initially trained in biochemistry and physical science, and obtained his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 2001. Dr. Holub developed an early interest in biological psychiatry and neuromodulation for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including the emerging field of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
In 2002, during his psychiatry residency at McMaster University, he trained extensively under Professor Gary Hasey, Canada’s TMS pioneer and eminent researcher and clinician. He also gained expertise with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), which he continued to administer during ten years at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, where he served as Lead Psychiatrist of the Concurrent Disorders program until 2018.
Through his experiences, Dr. Holub developed a keen interest in the field of addiction, along with a strong passion, empathy, and desire to serve those individuals and families affected by this devastating genetic brain disease. He was board certified in Addiction Medicine in 2012, and co-founded the Halton & Mississauga Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic in 2019, where he continues to serve as Medical Director & Research Director. He has taught medical students and residents, and has served as an educator and consultant for various community agencies.
With exciting advances in the TMS field in both psychiatric and addictive disorders, including the advent of Deep TMS, Dr. Holub and his team have brought Deep TMS to patients in the Mississauga/GTA area through the launch of NextWave TMS.
In addition to providing Health-Canada approved treatments for Depression, Anxious Depression, OCD, and Smoking Cessation, along with other evidence-based treatment options, NextWave’s vision is to expand into a leading research institution to evaluate and expand the use of DeepTMS for the treatment of a range of addictive disorders.
